July turned up the heat here in Oak Cliff, and Skyline at Kessler brought the fun right along with it! Between record-breaking Dallas temps and no shortage of ways to cool off around the Kessler neighborhood, this month's recap is all about beating the heat. Here are our favorite nearby Bishop Arts and Kessler Park spots to grab something cold!
MELT Ice Creams | Ice Cream
If you haven't been to MELT yet, you're missing out. It's just down the road in Bishop Arts and they sell premium, small-batch ice cream, with a rotating lineup of creative flavors alongside classic favorites. They use natural, locally-sourced ingredients, and even the mix-ins and toppings are made in-house, which says a lot. The menu's short and changes with the seasons, so there's always something new to try, plus a solid amount of plant-based options if that's your thing.

Picolé | Handcrafted Pops & Ice Cream
Craving something cold and craveable? Picolé is serving up small-batch ice cream made with real milk, heavy cream, and sugar - plus signature pops loaded with real fruit! They switch up flavors and combos often enough that it's worth stopping by more than once. What's cool is it's a family-run spot with a four-generation tradition behind it, going all the way back to an ice cream shop in Michoacán, Mexico, before making its way here to Dallas. Their original Bishop Arts location has been open since 2016 - so check it out!

Kidd Springs Aquatic Center | Outdoor Public Pool
For a full day of sun, the Kidd Springs Aquatic Center is a neighborhood favorite. This outdoor public pool has something for everyone - there’s slides, a kiddie pool for the little ones, and even a basketball court for when you need a break from the water. It's a great and easy way to spend an afternoon cooling off right here in Oak Cliff.
